Discover Patiala Indian Grill

Patiala Indian Grill at 371 W 34th St., New York, NY 10001, United States is the kind of spot that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem in the heart of Manhattan. Walking in, you’re greeted by the warm aroma of sizzling spices and freshly baked naan, which immediately sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. I remember my first visit vividly-what drew me in was not just the vibrant decor but the lively energy of the staff who seemed genuinely excited to share their cuisine.

The menu is a delightful mix of traditional Indian favorites and inventive twists. Their butter chicken is creamy without being overpowering, and the tandoori lamb chops are perfectly charred with a hint of smoky flavor that only comes from a traditional clay oven. For anyone exploring Indian flavors for the first time, the chicken tikka masala is an accessible yet authentic choice, while more adventurous diners will enjoy the rich, spicy goat curry. A particular highlight is the vegetarian options-palak paneer and chana masala are not just afterthoughts but full-fledged stars on the menu. In fact, according to a recent study by the National Restaurant Association, diners are increasingly seeking high-quality vegetarian options, and this spot delivers exactly that.

Beyond the food, the location itself is a huge plus. Being in Midtown, near Penn Station, it’s incredibly convenient whether you’re coming from work or catching a train. I’ve noticed that many reviews on local food forums praise the restaurant for its accessibility and consistent quality. On a weekday evening, the place can get quite busy, but the efficient service ensures that the wait never feels long. The team’s knowledge about each dish also enhances the experience-they’re happy to suggest pairings, explain the spice levels, or recommend the perfect dessert like the saffron-infused kulfi.

One of my favorite personal experiences at this restaurant involved their chef’s special biryani night. The chef, a trained culinary expert with over 15 years of experience in North Indian cuisine, walked us through the cooking process while the aromatic rice cooked. Watching him layer spices and marinated meat while explaining how each ingredient contributes to the final flavor was both educational and entertaining. It’s moments like these that make dining at Patiala Indian Grill feel more than just a meal-it’s a small journey into Indian culinary traditions.

For those considering dietary concerns, the restaurant is remarkably accommodating. Gluten-free naan options, lactose-free alternatives, and clear labeling of spice intensity allow everyone to enjoy the menu safely. Trusted sources like the USDA recommend clarity in menu labeling for allergens and dietary preferences, and Patiala Indian Grill clearly takes this seriously.

What really sets this place apart is the balance of casual and refined. You don’t need a special occasion to dine here, yet the attention to detail in presentation and flavor makes it feel elevated. Whether you’re enjoying a quick lunch during a busy day in Midtown or planning a relaxed dinner with friends, the ambiance, service, and food quality consistently impress.

Customer reviews frequently mention the combination of flavor authenticity and New York convenience, which is hard to achieve. Many locals swear by their weekend brunch specials, while others rave about the evening thali platters that allow sampling multiple dishes at once. From my experience, this thoughtful approach to menu design demonstrates a deep understanding of both traditional Indian cuisine and the expectations of a diverse urban audience.

Every visit to Patiala Indian Grill confirms why it remains a standout choice in New York City’s competitive dining scene. The flavorful dishes, knowledgeable staff, accessible location, and welcoming atmosphere combine to create a restaurant experience that is both memorable and repeatable.

  • Not a cliche indian restaurant, very mordern restaurant. We went for evening snacks and ordered- palak patta chaat, papadi chaat, tea and filter coffee. The tea was amazing and the coffee too. I personally loved the palak patta chaat due to its crispness. But the papdi chaat was also good. Must visit

  • Excellent Food & Amazing Hospitality! We had a wonderful dinner for a group of six at Patiala Indian Grill. This spot is a charmingly cozy small place that feels like a lovely escape. What really stood out was the amazing service and care-taking. Our server was incredibly kind and ensured our entire party's needs were met quickly and with a smile—they truly went above and beyond to make our experience smooth and memorable. And the food? Simply excellent. The menu offers a superb range of options, and everything we ordered was fantastic—fresh, perfectly spiced, and generously portioned. For anyone looking for top-notch Indian cuisine paired with some of the best hospitality in the city, look no further. This is a must-try!

  • The menu is super diverse and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the shahi sweet lassi as a drink to anyone that likes creamy drinks. Try it instead of mango lassi! The lamb korma and vindaloo were my favorite. The zeera ghee rice is also an absolute must. The serving sizes were also plentiful. I recommend eating family style. The service was phenomenal. Food came out fast and the servers were all very attentive and caring. The music was fun too! Perfect for a cool day. Deserves a larger location and more attention!

  • A Hidden Gem with Stellar Service! We hosted a group of seven at Patiala Indian Grill on W 37th St, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Despite being a wonderfully cozy and intimate small place, they handled our larger party with grace and efficiency. The service and care-taking were truly next level—attentive, prompt, and genuinely warm, making everyone at our table feel well-looked-after. The food was the real highlight. Every dish, from the appetizers to the main courses, was fantastic and excellent. The flavors were vibrant and authentic, clearly prepared with expertise. It's rare to find such a perfect combination of incredible food and such amazing hospitality in a bustling area like NYC. Highly, highly recommended for any size group!

  • This place is very close to The Edge and Times Square, making it a great spot if you’re around the area. The restaurant is small with only 4–5 tables, so seating is limited. They had a lot of to-go orders, and the in-house service was a little slow because of that. They serve authentic Indian food, and the ambiance is cozy and nice—perfect for a date night, especially if you enjoy small spaces with corner tables and candlelight vibes. We ordered: • Samosas • Paneer Kali Mirch • Langar Wali Dal • Lemon Rice • Chilli Cheese Garlic Naan • Butter Naan Everything was absolutely delicious with unique and fresh flavors. We really loved the food! Overall, a great place to visit, but we’ll definitely choose takeout next time due to the limited seating. Highly recommended for Indian food lovers! ????????

  • Amazing Indian place. We loved it. Not a tourist trap. The tikka masala and papal panned were some of the best I have ever had. The garlic nan is buttery goodness. Love the ambiance too: tiny and quaint.
